Finally doing this - for me.

It has been a long time since I have posted anything on here, and shame on me. I started this blog a few years ago so that I could have a place to freely express my thoughts and feelings, but over time I have deleted the majority of my posts for various reasons. I don't intend to make this a diary yet I do intend to use this as a tool to help me deal with life's curve balls. I like to write my thoughts down because it allows me to get everything out without being interrupted and I don't have to worry about translating my thoughts into complete sentences and all that jazz.

So, life is good. Crazy, but good. I finished my medical coding and billing program and I am still working towards my degree. Only taking a couple classes over the summer, it should be a much needed break. One of the classes I am taking is a fitness course, so I am happy about that. I have been wanting to get in better shape and drop a few pounds for a while now and this should be the kick in the ass that I need. I just discovered an app that allows me to track my weight loss and fitness goals, and also another that helps me monitor how many cigarettes I am smoking. These have already been an awesome addition to my plan, and I have found that it helps to plan out my workouts and set a reminder. That way I can't use the "I forgot" excuse.

The plan is to get away from this:

And get a little closer to this:

Things at work, are, well its work what can I say. I've been at my job long enough to feel comfortable about the stability it offers which is something I was lacking in the automotive industry. I have recently updated my resume and plan to pass that out towards the end of the summer. I am all set to take my coding certification test, although I'm terrified to do so! You have to have an extremely high score to pass and its pretty costly, so I want to be sure that I'm ready. My doggies are my world, I love them to death! Scooter is doing well a year after his second TPLO surgery, and the other two like to join him in lounging around the house on these hot summer days :)

The romantic situation is the complicated one; isn't it always! I met a few people from a dating site a while ago but those all turned out to be duds. While I was on vacation I met, er, reconnected with someone. I feel like I connected with this person on such a powerful level that it would be foolish of me not to explore this opportunity. I have never felt like that before, magnetic almost perfectly describes my attraction to this man. That meeting has altered the course of the past few months for me, and I hate that I allow external factors to inhibit my happiness. It is odd how someone who makes you so happy can also make you sad at the same time. I am happy with hope, the possibility of something, yet saddened by the realization that I'm just not lucky in love. I did find this quote that made me think long and hard about my romantic situation “Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option”. I still feel something there, so I'm not letting go just yet. My heart and brain have been arguing about this; how do you know when to let go? On top of that, I have a friend who wants to take things to the next level, but I'm just not on that same level and I don't know how to make myself any clearer without being downright mean. I don't want to be the bad guy, and I'm trying so hard not to be but I'm not sure that its working.

At least I'm going to see A Perfect Circle next month, finally! I have waited a very long time for this show! I had to wait 8 years before I finally got the chance to see Tool live, and I told myself that I wouldn't see APC until I had seen Tool. So now it is almost time for the show! I have never seen Billy Howerdel perform live so I am pretty amped! I was looking forward to seeing Ashes Divide a couple years ago but they called off the show at the last minute. The show will be near the end of my summer semester - what a perfect way to celebrate!

Coming Around Full Circle

A Perfect Circle is at it again! I'm so excited, this is the best news that I've heard in a long time! Finally, I shall have my chance to see APC! I had the opportunity years ago, but I was determined to see TOOL live first. I also got tickets for Ashes Divide but they canceled a few weeks before the show and it wasn't rescheduled. Here is my chance to see the genius creative pair that is Maynard & Billy!!

Tool Live In San Antonio 7-24-09

I did not shoot any of these videos, I found them all on YouTube. I did take videos with my phone but they didn't turn out nearly as well ;)
This show was beyond amazing and the light show was a spectacular surprise!

amped

well, in the middle of my currently crashing world, i get to go see TOOL in San Antonio soon. i am so freakin' amped! it was difficult to get the tickets, and i thought after the dallas show sold out that this show would do the same. if it did, i was one of the few who got through at the right time. :)
it's going to be a long trip, but i am going to do everything in my power to make sure it's a good one. see, last time i went to see TOOL it was in Oklahoma City and although it was a fabulous show, my stupidity ruined the trip. now i'm no longer "with" the man i'm going to the show with but no doubt it will be a fabulous and memorable experience. and this time i'm definitely not going to get drunk until after the show...i can't believe i did that last time! not very long now...sweet anticipation!

TOOL Tickets

TOOL tickets went on sale today for the July 25th show at Nokia Theatre through ticketmaster. they went on sale at 10:00 and i was online 45 minutes before just in case they went on sale a few minutes early. at 9:57 ticketmaster allowed me to search for tickets and almost instantly came back with "no tickets available". i repeated this process of trying to get tickets for over an hour after they went on sale with no luck. now it's been confirmed that the show is officially sold out. fucking great.
so you obviously can't get tickets online, and if you call on the phone they put you on hold and you're not able to purchase tickets when they go on sale. if you go to a retail location and there are more than 2 people in line they hand out random numbers. so i could be the very first person in line but the very last person in line gets my tickets. that's bullshit. and if the shows wouldn't sell out so damn fast it wouldn't be such a big deal; but this is TOOL we're talking about and i would do everything in my power to make sure i'm #1 in line.
so i called ticketmaster later in the day, after the show was confirmed to be sold out. i asked them just how exactly one is supposed to purchase tickets and got no answers. and it's not like you can get your tickets anywhere else...ticketmaster is the only option.
i am still planning to try and get tickets to one of the other shows as soon as they are released, but who knows if i'll happen to get that lucky.
this is the second time that this has happened because of ticketmaster. the last time TOOL came to town they did a show in Dallas and it was sold out in 3 seconds. 3 seconds! that's crazy! and someone that i spoke to at ticketmaster said that all of the tickets are not released at the same time. she said that they are released in groups. what the hell? i just cannot believe this, how can they do this? and to the fucking scalpers, quit buying up the fan's well-deserved tickets!

Edgefest 18 - Stone Temple Pilots

STP was fucking awesome!!

so as soon as i heard about the lineup for Edgefest 18, i was on it! regardless of the how-i was determined! i thought for sure that my man would want to go with me, but it was too big of an ordeal for him. he's a bit anti-social. so i went alone, all by my lonesome.
and i had a freaking blast!
i have gone to a concert alone before, but it wasn't nearly as good of a time as i would have liked. so i wasn't sure how this excursion would turn out, but all was well. extremely well.
as soon as the band came out on stage, i went nuts, screaming and cheering.
then Scott came out and, whoa, i lost my mind screaming at the top of my lungs!
I was mesmorized by the performance, and espically Scott's dancing skills!!
they played every song that i wanted to hear, and more! i was so amped that they played my favorite songs, and that i got to see them perform live...finally!
STP didn't come out on stage at the scheduled time, no suprise really. the bigger and better the band, the more time it takes to set everything up so it's just right. after waiting for about 45 minutes, the crowd was ready and chanting S T P! it was great! and once their set was over, i looked at the time and couldn't believe that they had been on stage for so long! we may have had to wait a bit longer to see them; but it was more than worth it.
i was definately part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and i'm so glad that i got the chance to go :)
these are some of the songs they performed, along with some others that are currently slipping my mind:
*dead and bloated
*sex type thing
*wicked garden
*naked sunday
*creep
*piece of pie
*plush
*crackerman
*vaseline
*big empty
*interstate love song
*trippin on a hole in a paper heart
*sour girl
